Opening of the exhibition “Yossel of Rosheim” at the Council of Europe

The opening took place last Tuesday, April 23rd at the Palais de l’Europe, in Strasbourg

The travelling exposition dedicated to Yossel of Rosheim has been presented at the prestigious Foyer of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, during the parliamentary session. The initiative has been supported by the Ambassador of France at the Council of Europe, Mr. Laurent Dominati, who has invited the members of this institution, as well as local personalities and members of the Hirschler Loge.

Both the General Secretaire of the CoE, Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland, and his deputy, Ms. Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni have honoured the speech of the ambassador with their presence, as well as the President of the Parlamentary Assembly, Mr. Jean-Claude Mignon, among some sixty other guests.

The exhibition, which is complemented with documents from the Renaissance period, where Yossel of Rosheim had been a contemporary of, will stay at the Palais de l’Europe during three weeks. In France it has already been on show at the médiathèque in Rosheim, at the History Museum of Haguenau, at the Humanist Library of Sélestat, at the headquarters of the regional Government of Alsace, and it will continue its journey to the Dominician’s Library at Colmar in 2014.
The German version has already been successfully on show at Erfurt, Speyer and Breisach, and can be seen in Essen this summer, and then in Augsburg, towards the end of this year.
