The Network of Spanish Jewish Quarter (Red de juderías de España - Caminos de Sefarad) takes over the chairmanship of the AEPJ from B\'nai B\'rith Europe.

Statutes of the AEPJ establish that chairmanship of the association is to be occupied in bi-annual turns by the three member associations: B\'nai B\'rith Europe, Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters, and European Council of Jewish Communities.

The former chairmanship, for the period 2006 / 2007, had been held by Mrs. Claude Bloch, on behalf of B\'nai B\'rith Europe. Now the turn has come for the Red de Juderías de España (Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters) to take over the chairmanship, which is upheld in the person of the present chairman of the Network, the Mayor of León, Mr. Francisco Fernández Álvarez.

The transfer took place on May 23rd 2008 at the plenary hall of the town hall of León, on occasion of the Network\'s General Assembly.
During the ceremony there were also presented two new publications:
The European Programme of the 8th European Day of Jewish Culture 2007 (it can be downloaded from this website at the EDJC section), and the collection of 6 volumes \"European Cultural Routes\" (in Spanish), an initiative of the Council of Europe. Volume n.6 of this collection is dedicated to the European Route of Jewish Heritage (details of this publication at the Publications section of our website).

At the same time, the secretary office of the AEPJ has been temporarily relocated to Spain for better convenience, to the secretary office of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters.
