Great success of the AEPJ workshop in Girona!

Under the title “From the European Day of Jewish Culture to the European Route of Jewish Heritage”, the workshop held between November 24th and 25th in Girona (Spain), gathered representatives from many different European institutions concerned with the preservation and promotion of Jewish heritage and culture.

The different sessions dealt with issues such as pan-European coordination of Jewish heritage promotion, ways of promoting Jewish heritage locally, or the future of the European Routes of Jewish Heritage. Another session was dedicated to establish the date and subject matter of next year’s European Day of Jewish Culture.
The working sessions were complemented by an excursion to visit the Jewish quarters of Castelló d’Empúries, Besalú and Girona, all three of them members of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters – Routes of Sepharad.
All participants agreed on it having been a great opportunity not only to advance towards a better cooperation and coordination of efforts, but also to establish connections on a more direct and personalised level.
Please check the attached PDF file for the official report of the meeting.
The workshop was organised by the AEPJ with the support of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters – Routes of Sepharad, the City Council of Girona and the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava-Pirineus.
