Extraordinary success of the European Day of Jewish Culture

All over Europe, more than 20 countries have celebrated last September 5th, the 11th edition of the European Day of Jewish Culture

This celebration, which has become a fix date on the European cultural agenda, being held each first Sunday of the month of September since 1999, has been highlighting, year after year, the historic contribution of the Jewish communities to the history the culture and the memory of Europe.
Open doors at synagogues and museums, guided tours and visits, exhibitions and workshops, concerts and performances, crafts fairs and food sampling, conferences and lectures, and a long etcetera are being organised, evolving around Jewish heritage and culture.
Each year, the activities are focused on a particular aspect, the subject matter of the event. This year, it has been ART&JUDAISM, offering an extraordinary wide range of different activities, as can be found on our website at: web

Incoming reports on the event from the different countries are a testimony to the increasing interest in the wider public to discover the varied and fascinating aspects of Jewish culture and heritage.
Please check the attached PDF file for the currently available visitor numbers. This information will be updated weekly.

The AEPJ would like to thank all organisations and participants for their interest, time, effort and dedication, which have made the EDJC an important element of social unity in today’s Europe.
